When I’m not reading books, I’m watching TV shows. Just kidding, I watch more than I read (when a book just isn’t doing it for me)! And how can I not when there are so many refreshingly different shows available? And thanks to Sana @ Eleven Eleven for reminding me that there are other amazing ways which we can fill our time with including watching shows. Here are the nine shows I’m currently obsessed with (and be warned, there will be spoilers!):
Celebs Go Dating
A group of single celebrities join an exclusive dating agency in a bid to find true love. As the agency opens its doors, the single stars date members of the public in the hope of finding the one.
Sadly, season 5 has now reached its conclusion, but I have very much enjoyed it and especially because of Olivia Atwood who was drunk throughout almost the entire show. Really, this season was worth watching just for Olivia alone! Olivia and Sam broke the rules this season and picked each other for the finale and I’m not going to lie, I did feel a little emosh. Just a tad. Having said that, nothing can compare to the rollercoaster ride that was season 5 which featured Frankie Cocozza and the ridiculously fun Charlotte Dawson who also broke the rules and picked each other at the end!
Made in Chelsea
Lives and loves of a group of twenty-somethings who live in and around London’s exclusive postcodes.
By “exclusive” they mean very, very, very posh. This is a reality show where everyone knows each other’s business and when they don’t, they make it their business to find out and spill the tea!
This season has been entertaining so far. We’ve had ‘I’m going to make puppy dog eyes, so you feel sad for me and forgive my fuckboi tendencies’ Sam pursuing Habbs, who, by the by, is so out of Sam’s league. We’ve also been seeing a realistic portrayal of the stages of a break-up from Olivia and Digby (I mean, what a posh name, indeed!) as well as couple Louise and Ryan sticking their nose in and interfering when they can. Ryan has received backlash from viewers for his brash critique which I found confusing because almost every single person on Twitter had literally been voicing the same thoughts until Ryan had the guts to say it to Olivia’s face! The irony, eesh. Fine, okay, his delivery could have been better, but what he said made a lot of sense.
I would love to see the return, or even a cameo, of Lucy ‘Queen’ Watson one day because she will always be my favourite. Anyway, here’s an old and legendary clip:
Modern Family
Season 10 is the final season and ooh, boy, did it create a ruckus when the producers foreshadowed a major character death and we all quaked in our boots, readying ourselves for the death of Jay Pritchett, and what happened, huh? It was a minor character! I don’t care, thank God, because I love Jay!
I’m eagerly waiting to see what happens with Hailey’s storyline because I have no idea who she is going to pick, but, honestly, as Ted Mosby rightly said, shouldn’t Hailey be head over heels for one guy as opposed to struggling between two? If anything, I thought she’d end up with Andy, but, erm, I guess they can’t get their hands on the actor who seems to be quite busy!
I really wish the show would go on because the premise has longevity and I’m not ready to say goodbye!
The Big Bang Theory
Again, another show on its final season! This season has been comparably better than the last for me, personally, because I love Howard and we’re finally getting to see more of him and his earlier humour. He’s been overshadowed at the expense of more of Penny & Leonard and Sheldon & Amy which has been frustrating for me because Howard is my favourite character.
I’m also loving Raj’s arranged marriage storyline and I can’t wait to see what will be the end result. I hope we get to see a little more of Sheldon and Amy’s hilarious social experiments which they explored last season. It was interesting to see Penny opting out of motherhood and the show portraying something as relevant as this.
The Comedy Lineup
I loved Part 1 on Netflix and, so far, I have to say Part 2 could be a lot better. Janelle James opened the show and her stand-up routine has been my favourite of the 5 episodes I’ve watch so far. Janelle has such a ‘I’m not impressed’ vibe and even if you disagree with some of her opinions, you find yourself laughing anyway and saying: “Well, she does have a point!” Matteo Lane was hilarious too. He opens up about gay romance in the digital age, and his obsession with Lindsay Lohan’s Instagram had me laughing my ugly laugh (you know someone is funny when they make you ugly laugh)!
How to Get Away with Murder
Annalise Keating, a brilliant, charismatic and seductive professor of defense law, teaches a class called How to Get Away With Murder. Annalise, also a criminal defense attorney, selects a group of students — the best and the brightest — to assist with cases at her firm alongside her employees, the trustworthy and discreet Frank Delfino and Bonnie Winterbottom, an associate attorney. Mysteries arise that test everyone’s limits and reveal dark truths.
I think this tweet below pretty much summarises the show.
I cannot express how angry I was to see the sneak peek at the end of the last episode where the show revealed who dies this season because my mind went: “Hold up! After all you put us through last season? We went through the best episode of the last season and probably the show’s overall best episode for this to be the end result?” I know there’ll be a gut-wrenching reason for the death, but I am not ready for it.
Otherwise Michaela is, as always, walking around in her typical ‘I’m stressed’ fashion (if you’re on Twitter, you’ve seen the video already) and every episode I fall more in love with Connor. Nobody lay a finger on him! And Gabriel Maddox is serving some serious eye candy which helps a whole lot, I mean the whole cast is, look at their faces!
The Goldbergs
In the 1980s, geeky 11-year-old Adam uses a video camera to document his family’s crazy life.
Ah, this season could be a lot better. I wish they would stop recycling the “I’m your momma who can never let you be independent because otherwise I will no longer be in your life” storyline because it’s present in almost every episode. Can we please get more Barry Goldberg, our insane, impractical, rapping Michael Scott, and some more of Lainey? Otherwise, I’m loving Erica’s progression into a struggling adulthood and feeling all the feels that she’s feeling. So many feels.
Koffee with Karan
Karan Johar hosts celebrities as they reveal gossip and their secrets.
My Bollywood obsessed followers (are there any here?) know what I’m talking about! Deepika and Alia’s episode has been my favourite so far because it shows how – even in this deeply competitive industry where actresses are, sadly, dispensable – the nation’s most popular actresses can sit down on the same couch and have a chat! Alia Bhatt (pictured left) is currently dating Deepika Padukone’s (pictured right) ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor which I’m sure helped to get the viewers on board to watch this episode.
I am not entirely sure, as of yet, how I feel about Aamir Khan’s episode. Aamir Khan is the reigning Bollywood box office king and his film Thugs of Hindostan was recently released. In this episode, both Karan and Aamir discussed the #metoo movement which has finally reached India. Actresses have come out and spoken up about the sexual assault(s) and harassment they suffered at the hands of top directors and others in the film industry. Aamir recently walked out of a film and refused to work with a colleague accused of sexual harassment. However, in the episode, Karan touted that Aamir got the ball rolling by doing this which displaces the narrative and the courage of the women who have spoken up as Aamir actually agreed with Karan Johar. I don’t believe he fully intended it to come across this way, but rather he believes that his refusal, as one of the India’s most popular and influential actors, he has created an example for others to follow. So, I’m on the fence on this. He definitely should have phrased it better, but I do believe that Aamir must realise that the court system doesn’t always grant justice, and that we should believe women anyway and refuse to work with accused individuals if there is a reasonable belief in the accusations.
Impractical Jokers
This hidden-camera series follows four lifelong friends — Brian “Q” Quinn, James “Murr” Murray, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano — who take dares to an outrageous level.
I saved the best for last. No show has ever made me ugly laugh so much. I love dares and all things silly and this show is everything! This is my favourite show, and, yes, I love it more than Friends. This and Game of Thrones = Faves.
Bonus: I’ve watched an episode of Hasan Minhaj’s Patriot Act and I found his commentary on Amazon and the company’s monopoly and unethical practices very enlightening. I can’t wait to watch more! And thank you so much, Tiara @ MutedMouthful for bringing it to my attention.
Which shows are you currently loving? Are you watching any of the shows I’ve listed? What other shows would you recommend to me? I would love some comedy, mystery and reality TV recs, so let me know in the comments!
Sophski out.

Woot woot!!!!!! THANK YOU! Somebody knows the Goldbergs! It’s such a lovely show. ☺️ Barry and Pops are the best, for me, who are your favourites?
I do love TBBT, but it’s not like how it used to be. 😞

Ohhh mine have to be pops and dad they r sooo funny 😂! I love the show… TBBT has really changed and is no longer aa interesting unfortunately 😭

They’re both amazing! Pops is always up for a good time, always positive and enthusiastic about ferkakta (I know you know the joke ☺️) thing and you gotta love Murray’s honesty. Such a classic dad!
It has! But this season is worth it, it’s good, I promise! 😭 Raj’s storyline is really interesting, my boys getting married. 🙂

I loved the ferkakta thing it was hilarious 😂!!!
Tbbt season story line I gotta watch that! Haha 😊

I’m really glad to see this. (Out of the crisis) 😃 but nine shows? Oh my God. I get commited to only one show at a time. So that is kinda surprising. (A pleasant one though)
Your comedy picks – The big bang theory and Modern Family are on my tbw list. I never heard of The Goldbergs, might check it out sometime.
Are you Bollywood obsessed fan? I must admit, I grew up obsessing over it and also grew out of it while growing up (guilty). Ah! Koffee with Karan. I just love the Rapid Fire and Koffee quiz. How many times have I wished to somehow get hold of that beautiful hamper. *Nostalgia hits me hard*

If only I could do that! One show at a time seems as though it would be far less time-consuming. Out of curiosity, what is this one show that you are currently committed to?
I’m sure you’ll like Modern Family, it’s so popular with most everyone. And if you’re watching TBBT from the start, well, the first few seasons are amazing! The Goldbergs is family friendly (except when the mother swears), I hope you enjoy it if you get around to watching it. 🙂
Obsessed, infatuated, head over heels. I love Bollywood. ☺️ I’m not surprised, people do tend to fall out of love with it, but I do see a lot of people who’ve fallen out of love with it still love Aamir Khan’s new films. That hamper is huge! I remember once they showed what was in it and apparently there’s a lot of chocolate, so.. yeah. 🤤 This seasons rapid fire hasn’t been all that so far, everyone’s answers are very, very held back. 😔

Hahah! I know exactly what you mean. Years ago I used to watch that came on Hindi television. (quite literally 😂) I’m committed to Supernatural right now. Dean and Sam and Cas and Jack, and Bobby and Rowena and Charlie and. . Oh! I’ll end up writing every character that I’ve fallen for, so I better stop. I completed all of its 13 seasons earlier, this year. And now following the running S14. And ooh boy waiting every week for a new episode is so not okay! How does one do that!
Yes, one of my friend suggested me to watch to watch Modern Family. I might watch most of the comedy mentions not now, but later on surely. Because sitcoms are ❤️.
Wow. Wow. I didn’t know that 😮. I thought that may be you just follow it regularly. I should not after any celebrity. If a movie intrigues me I watch it. Because Bollywood nowadays has this crazy need to make only realistic or biopics 🤐. Both of which are not really my thing. I mean what happened to ‘movies are for entertainment’ theory?
Oh. I watched a few episodes of it last year. I remember liking the one with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Because, I don’t remember why. 😂 But I remember liking it. See why I don’t do many things at once. This might do a good explanation.

Looool. OMG. Star Plus, say it with your chest! 😂 So dramatic but sometimes so annoyingly good (the one with a character called Gopi was really good!). I don’t know anything about Supernatural, those names are completely foreign to me, but I have to say that the characters are very good looking based on what I searched! And woah, 14 seasons, I’m guessing it must be really popular then to have such a long run!
I’m sure you’ll love Modern Family and if you do, let me who your favourite character is! XD
It’s such an entertaining and fascinating industry, a site called dontcallitbollywood.com is really amazing at updates in the industry! I love realistic Bollywood films like Veere de Wedding with Kareena and Sonam and Sonam’s character was the perfect representation of the modern woman. A few years ago there was an influx of biopics, it was all the rage.. but I couldn’t bring myself to watch them because they all seemed so boring. If you want all out entertainment, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is really good and it’s a Karan Johar film! 🙂 I do wish they’d make movies like K3G, Hum Tum and Jab we Met again. You might also like Queen.
Kat and Anushka’s episode was the BEST episode of last season, that’s probably why you remember it 😂. They had the best chemistry, they just got along, had interesting opinions and both are funny! Kat and Varun smashed it in the last episode, you might like that and I hear Kareena and Priyanka might come on together, they used to have a loooong rivalry before so that would really interesting.

I’m really curious about your nationality now. Star Plus, Star One, Sony, Zee every channel showed something I watched. (Even if I didn’t watch, I kept myself updated 😂.) You’re fan of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya? OMG. I didn’t love it. But then I watched it almost entirely. It’s weird how some shows can hook you up. But my fave would be Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. (ASR 💕)
Yep! Supernatural is super popular. I’m seriously hoping they keep running the show for indefinite time lol. *Fingers crossed*
I’ll definitely let you know when I start watching it. 🙂
I used to be eager to catch every Bollywood gossip when I was in school. It was so so much fun. But you know that feel obviously. 😁
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil? I seriously adore the cast but the story. . Don’t you think it’s rather a very long love chain? 🙈 (I haven’t watched it so no further comments)
Jab we met and Queen are both amazing. But movies like K3G, ZNMD, Hera Pheri (old comedies) are all time favourites.
Yes, I remember now. They were both honest and kinda teamed up against Karan. 😂
And I’m waiting to know who instilled such an incredible interest for Bollywood in you. 😉

Paha! I’m British Bangladeshi, what about you? All my aunties love Star Plus that’s why I know some of these shows and got obsessed with Bollywood. I don’t know if that’s the one Gopi is in, there was one episode where Gopi washes the laptop and put it on a clothesline and let’s just say that the dramatic music and thunderclaps were accurately used there. 😂 But OMG Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon! Everyone who loves Star Plus loves that show! Everyone kept going on about the pairs chemistry. My friends who were hopeless romantics were obsessed. It did seem like a really good show though 😔
Bollywood gossip was and is really juice,& don’t blame ya. 😋 Paha, that love chain had literally five people in it. FIVE! Lol. But I enjoyed the story, Alizeh was so fun to watch and Lisa Haydon – obsessed. The scene where she says “kutti, kamini, gulta,” that’s the dream.
Kaun hai yeh… jisne dobara mudke mujhe nahin dekha. Who is he? Iconic. I found a site to watch ZNMD after you recommended it, I was LOVING it, but they only showed me half of it! Need to check out Hera Pheri, I hear it’s really good. 🙂
When Anushka said to Karan: “oh, you’ll say any shit on your show” the world felt it. 😂

Ooh that explains a lot things about you. I’m from India. That’s the Gopi one. You can trust me on that. I’ve followed that serial until the day it became too painful lol. 😂 I was one of those hapless romantic (obsessed ) ones. I still am. It’s Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon after all. 😁
I seriously think I became way too choosy about the things somewhere. And I kinda like it this way. You should seriously watch ZNMD. I mean that movie feels like life. I don’t call it movie at all. Hera Pheri and all the older comedies are worth watching. 🙂
Hahaha! I’m getting glimpses of Karan’s facial expression for this and it is EPIC. 😂

Explains what? 😂 I mean, I look very Bengali. And that’s cool! I did think you were from Pakistan, based on your name because I had a friend in school who was Pakistani and her name is Sana. Loooool, it was the best in its heyday though, Gopi’s mother-in-law is probably the one terrifying looking person you’ll see! 😂 aw, that’s adorable. 🙂 can’t believe the shows still going on! What more storylines can they do now?
It’s good to be choosy, you know what you like at the end of the day, and why give time to a film that you don’t enjoy? But you have to give a few films a chance, they might surprise you! Sis, I can’t find any link that works online, I’m trying. 😭 I’m surprised by how well Katrina acted in the film, the characters completely unlike her as well.

Your interest in Bollywood and knowledge of StarPlus. 😂 You won’t believe this but I actually dreamt you replying to my comment. Then, I wake up to see this. 😂 I mean I kinda expected you to be from India, but Bangladesh isn’t that far from here 😊. Ohh Pakistan? You were nearly right though 😁. ( We can’t guess based on looks and these are neighboring countries we are talking about.) No no. The both the shows ended in StarPlus. Saathiya’s going on, in StarUtsav I believe. (Don’t know for sure). Kokila is the name, I loved to hate her, lol.
I can’t help but be prejudiced about some hyped things. Like I just decided that I’ll never watch GOT. 😂 I know you are right. Some things have indeed surprised me. But then I’m gonna be honest and say that I enjoy being choosy. 😛
I don’t know about there. I searched and found a site it on a site called imovies. But I’m not sure if you can find it there or not. I watch most of the things on 123movies. But for ZNMD, it’s not working. 🤨

Omg LOL! Before I actually saw this comment, just after I woke up, I actually thought about your reply and then I saw your comment. 😂 I think we have a telepathy thing going on! Oh, I get that from even Bangladeshi people that I look Indian. How weird is that? I thought you were Pakistani but you’re Indian and you thought I was Indian but I’m Bengali. Paha, looks like sometimes we even struggle to know the difference! 🤣 and wow, it’s still going on?! Pahaha, I don’t blame you about Kokila, she just has such an evil vibe going on because of the way she looks at people lol.
Game of Thrones isn’t for everyone, it is very, very violent after all. I did that with GoT, read the first chapter then got hooked, watched one episode and I ended up watching all the seasons in 2 weeks lol. But having said that, I can’t say that you’ll like it! Yep, it is your own life after all, you get to choose what you want in it.🙂
I’ll have to check it out! Haven’t heard of the site before, and yes 123movies usually has everything, gotta love that website. I think perhaps with Bollywood movies and 123movies being very much a western site, it hasn’t been uploaded properly? There’s a site called einthusan, that one might work. But that’s also the one that wouldn’t load ZNMD, but it might have fixed it from the last time I checked? Also, sorry for the late reply, been really busy and life is going to get even busier in December because it’s officially wedding season. ☺️

Hahaha! A telepathy then. 😂 Told you we’re geographically close. So it’s supposed to be hard to differentiate. Yes, yes even for us. 😂 Hahaha on a different channel. A rerun. Hahaha! Her Shudh Hindi scares me more than her eyes, lol.
Yes, everyone watches it. And it must be amazing too. But some things are not meant for some people I guess. Yep! Absolutely. 🙂
Oh yeah! That could be the reason why I couldn’t find it there. I totally get it. Been occupied with life stuff as well. Today’s December 1st. I’m in such a Christmas-y mood. Ugh Why doesn’t it snow where I live. Have fun in all those weddings. Snowflakes and hot chocolate. ❄️ (Ignore me, I just finished reading a Christmas themed book 😂)

So much for a major character dying haha. Really thought it was going to be Phil or Jay! Thank goodness it wasn’t! Wait, Dylan’s back?!?! Omg I thought he was married?? Do we know who her baby’s father is?? *spoilers appreciated plz*
TBBT! They completely blindsided me with this being the last season. I was sure there would be at least 2 more seasons. Sigh.
Btw, Impractical Jokers is on Netflix now! It’s on my tbw lol.
LikeLiked by 1 person
If Phil died, everyone would have rioted and the producers would have received so much backlash, I think because he’s such a consummate favourite. YUP, that boy is back, and er, you’ll see about his marriage status. Okay, fine, they’re separated/divorce (can’t remember which). And DU-UDE! I didn’t know about Hailey becoming pregnant and I went online and found out that she is? I bet you it’s Dylan. She can’t decide, so I’m guessing the pregnancy might aid her to decide? I hope they don’t do it this way. I’ll be surprised if it’s not Dylan. They should just bring Andy back for a while because those two belong together. 😭
I think almost the entire universe and the aliens watching thought the show was never going to end. But they’re setting up the final season well, so I’m happy.
GIRL. GIRL. It’s only available in the US. 😭 can’t find it on my Netflix. 😭

Ugh I hope it’s not Dylan she winds up with. I liked her nerdy bf! Although I am so with you on Andy. If he came back then okay, I’d be thrilled!! They were perfect for each other! Omg can you imagine Phil as a grandpa?? 😀
Whaaa? Why does Netflix always do this smh
LikeLiked by 1 person
Sadly, they just never ever got each other’s sense of humour, I think in this case they’re just tooooo different to each other. I’ll be surprised if he turns out to be the father! Hailey and Dylan will have a, er, different life together. BUT somehow he is a lot smarter this season, so I can see them working out. Phil is going to be adorable grandpa. Such a sweetheart. 😭
Cos you live in the US and I live in the U.K., and Netflix UK clearly doesn’t think we would be interested in American shows. 😭 They don’t even have the Office (US) on U.K. Netflix. 😔

I’m not completely up to date on this season of the Big Bang Theory but I do hope it ends with Raj being happy and so far I do like the future Mrs. Raj! I don’t really want all the characters to be paired up but since that’s what he’s wanted forever… 🙂 I’ve watched it for so long I just want my babies to end happy!
Also Made in Chelsea sounds like a lot of fun.

Future Mrs. Raj is looking good, dope personality, so decisive! It’ll be such a curveball if they decided not to have Raj end up with someone, but I think that because that this is mostly a positive seeming show, they’d rather give everyone a happy ending. Thank God. 🙂
Made in Chelsea is tea-spilling delicious. ☺️

Made in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating are a no no for me. I hate reality TV (unless it’s love island). I wish I watched shows like I used to, but I honestly don’t care for it anymore. Although Humans (I’m still waiting for a new season) and when I still had Netflix to watch money heist are real good

I gave up on TBBT a couple of seasons ago, same for Modern Family. It was for different reasons, though. TBBT was getting worse each week, but MF has always been good, I just was busy doing other things. I’ll def. catch up on both of them as I don’t want to miss the finales of shows I’ve known and loved for years.
You really should watch Atypical on Netflix. Really, really, really :)))

I think the last two seasons of TBBT have gotten a lot better, I have to say this season is looking good because Raj’s storyline is the most interest yet. So, you might like the final season better… but MF! I can’t find anyone who seems to dislike it, there’s always at least one character that everyone can relate to. 🙂
I’ve had that on my list on Netflix for a while, I’m working through my list still, I will get there one day. But the freaking description looks AMAZING. It’ll be a good one, I have a feeling.
