“A picture paints a thousand words.”
I hate looking back, but old photos have stories to tell. While I might not be reliving some of the memories held in those photos anytime in the near future, I can still cherish the memories and accept what was and accept what is now.
I scrolled through the oldest photos on my phone gallery and reminisced those moments and weirdly found that I was able to recall what happened before I took the picture. I am posting ten photos only, and if you would like to do this too please go ahead. Post ten of the oldest photos from your phone gallery, it can even be memes, screenshots, you don’t have to include selfies if you don’t want to, and share the story behind it. But make sure to give credit where it is due i.e. me, unless you’ve seen this somewhere else on WordPress before, of course.
This was taken on my birthday in June 2015. Whoa! Three years ago! I went to Go Ape with my family and one friend. If you live in the UK and love adventure, you can find out more about Go Ape on my previous post here.
Our session hadn’t started yet, so we went to explore and Trent Park afforded us some beautiful views. I love the glossy look to the water. It reminds me of my own eyes as I sometimes get asked if I’m crying because my eyes are very glossy.
A single cloud surrounded by blue sky. I had never seen anything like it, so I had to capture it. I love that there’s a guy rollerblading/rollerskating on the bottom right. Just like the cloud is the single cloud in this sky, he is the only human in this picture. I go alone, but I am not lonely… I am free.
I’m not sure why, but this my favourite nature photo I have ever taken. I love how congruent the grass and trees are, they line up perfectly. It’s almost an antonym to the previous picture. Here, everything feels so together, rooted and steady. It’s as if this is nature’s community with established hierarchies.
My uncle took this photo and sent it over to me. I like the way the brightness of the sun is shaped like a mountain. The light towers over the dark as if it would remind us that there is always more light in this world and it is rising to show us.
Once you complete Go Ape’s obtsacle course, you receive a certificate! I would just like to tell everyone that I finished first. Okay, fine, they didn’t know I was competing, but I won! Perhaps if I go again, I’ll challenge them, that would make it even more exciting. I’ll definitely have to challenge my brother as he is probably the one who could give me a run for my money.
This is where all the participants meet up. I have to congratulate Go Ape Trent Park on how they’ve set it up. They even have a gorilla!
Well… okay. This is the photo that my uncle took. I took one too, but it was more so concentrated on my uncle who was literally on the floor with a game face at level 100. That is how committed he was to getting the shot! He doesn’t have an instagram or facebook, and I don’t recall him displaying the photo on Whatsapp, so what was the point of behaving like a NatGeo photographer? But it is a lovely picture. Lloyd would be proud.
It reminds me of the Battle of the Bastards. That single tree is Jon and Sansa’s army and Ramsay and his army will soon have them surrounded.
I braved the barrels. By far the hardest obtsacle in the entire course. Oh, you think this looks easy? Your knees are scraping and those barrels are much further away than you would believe! I was able to do the Tarzan Jump where you swing off a ledge clutching a rope into a faraway net (think Leap of Faith but scarier) more easily than this.
Look how small my face was. My face now is roundish (for real, you guys need to send me some dieting tips that will still allow me to eat a lot), but I like it. Us brown people are prone to getting diabetes, plus I eat more dessert than main courses and I have aunties who aren’t happy until I’ve eaten everything in the house, so it’s hard to diet!
My fave, y’all. She’s my mini me and yes, she doesn’t look like me, but I’m talking about her personality. She loves unicorns, has and wears unicorn merchandise, loves science (I hate science), minecraft, games where she can build things, arts and crafts (she designs her pencils!) and history. She is very, very feisty, the defender of anyone who is being bullied and unfairly picked on.
She came over to my house and I put some lipstick and blusher on her and she wanted to take a picture that was a little more kooky!

You do take some good pictures, but I also need to congratulate your uncle on his photo skills. It’s a pity he doesn’t publish them online, but I guess some people just like the thrill of taking an awesome picture.
Your miniyou is your cousin, right? She’s the one who gave of half a biscuit the other day? No wonder you like her. I would also like to design my own pencils. What a badass.

I think a lot of older Muslim Bengali men don’t tend to use social media a lot, so they just take pictures for the pleasure of the view which is a simple and sweet approach to life in general I guess. 🙂
Not even half, a quarter lol, but a quarter is a lot for her, so I’m guessing she loves me too. 😝 Go for it! She learned from YouTube and you are a YouTube aficionado and a efficient badass too, so you’ll do great.

I loooove your nature pictures! And I love obstacle courses! I did one with my family last summer and you’re right! They look so easy, but then you get up there and they’re so difficult! You’ve earned your bragging rights!

Thank you. 🙂 Do you mind if I ask which obstacle course you did? I’m always looking to add more to my OC collection. They’re a lot harder than they look, but they’re so much fun too and again thank you. ☺️

It’s called Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course! It’s in New York. It was especially fun because it has a lot of zip lines.

Omg I just checked it, it looks bloody amazing. They even have leap of faith!!! And six courses!!! If I’m ever in the US, it’s going to be a MUST. Thanks for the rec! 🎊

Anytime! I didn’t do all of the courses, but the ones I did do were totally fun! Go finish what I started!

This Catana of photos down the gallery, that reminisce of adventure that you had was ineffable. And MashaAllah your selfie in white dress was lit and your beta or alpha version that loves science was the most likable among all.
Yeah in nature there is certainly unparallel bliss and pleasure which is soothing to see in your photos. And the barrel one what was that? But it looked dangerous i wont certainly would step in.
Wow it was a fantastic read, God bless you.

Thank you, Aquib, it really was a beautiful experience and one that I got to share with family which made it all the better. 🙂 She is the cutest! ❤️
You have to cross from one barrel to another from a significant height on just your knees… very painful, you wouldn’t enjoy that one! There was one where you can do the zip line on a skateboard which was fun. 🙂
And thank you once again.

The obstacle course looks like fun! Kind of reminds me of playing on a jungle gym as a kid. Happy times, for sure!
Liked the nature pictures. It’s important to remember the beauty that surrounds us. Something that is often overlooked. (Especially by me. Whoops).
Your mini-me! ❤ one of the parties bff and I are planning? Unicorns! Lmao.
Do you mind if I do this?? Full credit going to you. Obvs. My phone is fairly new so most of the pictures are from this year. I think it'll be a good December post. Looking back at the year's shenanigans.

What is this jungle gym you talk about and where can I find one because it sounds awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just need to put a sad song on, go to the window and get your Harry Potter… you’ll feel rejuvenated. There is beauty… everywhere if we just remember to look. 🙂
A unicorn party sounds friggin amazing! 🦄 Will you still be doing it because I remembered that you said that you might not? I might have to steal the unicorn idea for the little ones birthday. 😔
Go for it! I remembered you said, I think when I first started following you that you don’t take pics, so I thought okay lol she ain’t doing this tag, she ain’t bout that life paha. That sounds like a fun idea, can’t wait to see it. 😝

I’ve been googling to see if there’s something like your ape place near me. Haven’t found anything. Yet. I know there are gyms that have indoor obstacles. But the outdoor one you did looks like much more fun!
We have 1 party down, 1 to go. The unicorn party is the one we’re planning now haha. My godbaby is turning 3 and she has her heart set on this party. Luckily, unicorns are in so finding stuff has been a lot easier! Kid parties are the best lol.
Lmao I don’t. But the people around me know that so they send me pictures from when we hang out and stuff like that. I was going through my pictures and I realized I take a lot of pictures of animals though. (I have tons of squirrel pictures lol). And there are a few times when I do actually take a picture at an event. Strange. I know.

Shayne recommended one that’s in New York: https://adirondackextreme.com/gallery-1/ it looks amazing! I’m not sure if you live nearby, but this one has an added leap of faith which is always a lot of fun (and danger). 😉
Aw, I think my heart is melting. She’s 3 and she knows about unicorns already??? They’re the best, sure, but good luck, you’re going to need 6 months rest afterwards 🤭
Loooool squirrel pictures, you know. 😂 Squirrels, not selfies, that would be a great name for your phone gallery. I can’t wait to see the squirrel pictures! 😝 Will you be posting any selfies btw or is it exclusively squirrel zone only? Lol, I am having a field day about those squirrels.
Squirrels.

Lmao yeah. We’re not exactly where she learned about unicorns. I’m thinking it was in one of her books.
LMAO! I have a lot of animal pictures. There’s the squirrel that likes to eat the fruit off our tree in the backyard. There are the stray cats that follow me around. Birds that like to tease my dog. And of course, pictures of my dog haha. There are hummingbirds that also visit the back tree which I’ve been trying to get a picture of. They’re too quick though haha.
Lots and lots of animal pictures. Squirrels included. I think I will post a selfie. Maybe? We’ll see 😉

I wonder if it’s the one same squirrel who comes and eats or maybe their family take turns. 🤔 Bro, allow cats man, but hummingbirds and dogs.. ah ❤️ I would love to see pictures of the dog and hummingbird, hummingbirds are a rare sight on WP! You’ll need to expend a lot of effort into taking the picture though lol.
Haha, looking forward to it ☺️

I have no clue! I think it’s the same squirrel. Idk. He seems to know his way around haha. I’ve been trying and failing lmao. Hummingbirds are super quick and frighten easily!

I’ve been curious about what some of the landscape looks like near you. When I think of the U.K. and London I imagine an urban setting but never considered what might be outside the city limits.

That’s not me as a kid, that’s my little cousin, like you she loves science! 🙂 When you grow older, you’ll take even less photos believe me, your two will become a zero paha.. I take pics on my birthday & eid, that’s it lol. 😂

Woops! Still your cousin does look really cute and she looks like you tbh! I can’t recall the last time I took a pic on eid actually… (wow I’m so sad 😂😂) I mostly take pics of landscapes not food and people. I’m weird I know 🤣😜

If only I could look like her, she’s beautiful with those big hazel-ish anime eyes (Masha’Allah!). Haha, you know what, I take back what I said, wait till you get to college, you might just be taking lots of eid pics. No one can regret taking a picture of a beautiful view 🌅 but it might also be fun to take selfies and pics of family and friends and look back on them in 10 years time. You get to keep memories, but your way might mean just making and living new ones instead of capturing them with photos. 🙂
