When We Two Parted

In secret we met –

In silence I grieve,

That thy heart could forget,

Thy spirit deceive.

If I should meet thee

After long years,

How should I greet thee? –

With silence and tears.

When We Two Parted; George Gordon Byron

Can you believe I found this in my sister’s English anthology? I don’t remember reading poetry pieces like this for GCSE English which is a shame. Perhaps I would have been too young to have understand and appreciate it anyway. Nonetheless, I understand it now and I hope you enjoyed it too!

Love,

Sophia x
